Acting on behalf of a shareholder
If you are acting as a legal representative for the shareholder this will need to be recorded on the share register before we can trade. To do this please send the original power of attorney or a copy certified in ink (on every page if this is a lasting power of attorney or if issued in Scotland) by the person who has appointed the attorney(s), a bank, a solicitor or stockbroker, to the Registrars for registration.
The Registrars will not be able to accept a photocopy of this document.
The document should be sent to:
Link Group - Share Dealing
29 Wellington Street,
Make sure that your letter includes:
- The name of the company(ies) that the shareholder has shares in
- The name of the shareholder
- The documentation requested
Before you can trade on behalf of an Estate, the Registrar will need to have recorded to relevant legal documentation, such as the death certificate and grant of representation.
If you have not yet recorded this documentation please go here: https://www.signalshares.com/ or telephone the free phone Link Bereavement helpline on 0800 181 4702. This service is open Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 17:30pm excluding bank holidays in England and Wales.
The team will be able to tell you the exact steps you need to take to deal with the administration of the late shareholder and arrange to send you a guide outlining the process.
If the documentation has already been recorded any the named personal representative will be able to execute a trade through our usual trading procedure. All standard requirements for trading still apply.
